Fifth Wheel RVs for Sale
A Fifth Wheel RV is a towable camper. They are attached to a pick-up bed by a hitch: a coupling that has been mounted into the bed of the truck. This makes 5th Wheels more stable and less prone to sway than other towable RVs.
The most memorable feature in Fivers — as they are sometimes called — is the elevated overhanging portion of the camper. This gives Fifth Wheels many advantages over other towables. The split level design allows for taller ceiling heights and an airy interior space in the lower section, as well as a variety of floorplans based on which elements are placed in the upper area. It can be set up as a private main suite set apart from the living area, or used for storage and living space. It can even allow a two-bedroom floorplan to give traveling couples all the privacy they need.
The Advantages of a Luxury Fifth Wheel Camper
A Fifth Wheel Hitch requires a truck and is mounted in the truck bed, directly over the rear axle. All hitches have two parts: a locking mechanism that is mounted to the bed of a truck and a hitch that is connected to the front of the Fifth Wheel. Here at Poulsbo RV, we have top-notch Service and Parts departments to provide and install everything you need to tow your rig safely and easily.
From Lightweight to Luxury, there is a Fifth Wheel that is right for you. With high ceilings and multiple slide-outs, you can enjoy a spacious interior. There’s room for a residential kitchen with a central island and sometimes whole pantries. There’s plenty of interior and exterior storage space as well as convenient places for pass-through storage.
You can expect to find such amenities as full baths, entertainment systems, fireplaces, and sometimes outdoor kitchens.
The variety of models include sleeping accommodations of up to ten. There’s usually a main suite laid out with a king or queen bedrooms, along with convertible sofas with a loft sleeping space above in the high-ceiling interior, dinettes that fold down and convert into sleeping areas, and bunkhouses either in the rear or as a “mid-bunk”, a popular option, especially with the kids.
If all this sounds like Fifth Wheels can provide all the comforts of home, well, we don’t disagree. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t equipped for deeper camping experiences. With their auto-leveling systems, the roughest terrains don’t matter. Easy to hitch and unhitch, you’ll have your pick-up truck available as well.

Fifth wheels often come with the same amenities as a motorhome or travel trailer but are constructed with a raised forward section that provides a more spacious bi-level floor plan. The extra space makes it feel like you are cooking in a residential kitchen, has a spacious living room, and a private and separate bedroom.

Fifth Wheel Specs Weight
The total weight of a 5th Wheel depends on its length, features, finishes and appliances. Some smaller campers can weigh as little as 6,000 pounds, while a top-end full-size luxury model can measure 45 feet in length, and weigh over 20,000 pounds. It’s important to be sure that your pick-up can tow these weights.
Boondocking
There are a number of features which can help you take your rig into the deeper wilds. The two most important things to consider are power sources and water management. Toy Hauler Fifth Wheels are great for boondocking because they typically come standard with a generator, inverter and larger holding tanks.
The more water you can carry, the longer your adventure can last, so look for models with larger fresh water holding tanks.
Most newer rigs come with solar ready wiring. Adding solar panels and extra batteries will help you stay off-grid longer.
Extended Living
If your dream is to spend time on the road all year long, you will want to ask our dealers for models with more insulation, more air-conditioning units, and dual-pane insulating windows. Imagine a cozy winter day in the forest in the deluxe living spaces in a Fiver with top-of-the-line amenities and high end features for the best travel experience.
